Book Review: Adventure Bible: The Good Samaritan

About the Book:
When a Jewish man is robbed and left on the side of the road to die, who stops to help? Another Jewish man...or a Samaritan?

My Review:
My daughter who is 6, enjoys to read children's versions of Biblical stories.  She has read the teaching of Jesus on the good samaritan in the Bible on her own so she is familiar with the story.  When she received this book she was completely enamored with it.  The longer sentences and more age appropriate vocabulary made it a great read for her.  After she read it, she went back and flipped through it again to enjoy the beautiful illustrations.

The Bible stories in the, I Can Read Series, published by ZonderKidz, are edifying and allow her to work on her reading development while learning Biblical concepts. I found the level of this book to be very age appropriate.

All throughout the book, I have noticed from the previous books in the series, that the illustrations were more vivid in color and eye-catching.  The facial expressions of the illustrations were done exceptionally well.  The pain and hurt the injured man was feeling was captured well through the pictures.

At the end of the book there is a section, People in Bible Times, which gives the child an appropriate definition of who where the Samaritans.  There is also a Words to Treasure section which can be used as a memory verse to incorporate what the child has learned.

This series of I Can Read books, that incorporate Biblical messages are such a breath of fresh air from the other general children's books.  My daughter looks forward to reading more books from this series.

I received a copy of The Good Samaritan from BookLook Bloggers
in exchange for my honest review.
